Pete Laven is named President of Salvi Sports Enterprises LLC
Chicago, IL — Salvi Sports Enterprises, LLC will be adding a new leader to its roster. Pete Laven has been named President of Salvi Sports, which owns and operates two minor league professional baseball franchises in the Chicagoland area and a collegiate summer baseball team in Massachusetts. Mr. Laven brings 20 years of professional baseball experience and most-recently served as General Manager of The Arkansas Travelers, the Double-A Texas League affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.
Owner, Founder and CEO of Salvi Sports, Patrick A. Salvi was extremely pleased to hire such a sought after professional. Pete Laven will be responsible for overseeing all of the sports franchises that Salvi Sports owns and operates, which includes the Schaumburg Boomers (Frontier League), Gary SouthShore RailCats (American Association), and North Shore Navigators (Futures Collegiate Baseball League). The day-to-day operations of each franchise will continue to be run by the general managers in place, but Pete will help oversee the franchises and evaluate future opportunities for Salvi Sports.
“With our expanding number of sports franchises and my work as a full-time trial lawyer, Pete will be the addition that will help us succeed and continue our mission of creating a great baseball experience for our fans and sponsors,” said Patrick Salvi. “Pete has the experience and passion to bring Salvi Sports to the next level.”
Patrick Salvi will remain actively involved and continue serving as chairman of Salvi Sports Enterprises. The addition of Pete Laven will allow Salvi Sports Vice President and General Council Beth Heffernan to focus on her important role as council for the teams.
“I could not be more excited to join such a winning team,” said Pete Laven. “This is a great opportunity. The Los Angeles Angels and their affiliate are a great organization, but I could not pass up the chance to work at Salvi Sports in Chicago.”
Pete Laven was named General Manager of The Arkansas Travelers in 2007. Prior to becoming an affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels, the Travs have been a part of eight other Major League farm systems including the St. Louis Cardinals, Baltimore Orioles, and Detroit Tigers. During his time at GM, Mr. Laven oversaw operations that set franchise records for attendance and helped with the implementation of a new stadium. He was also voted Texas League Executive of the year and received the Closer Award as the top salesperson in minor league baseball.
Pete Laven grew up in La Grange, Illinois and attended Eastern Illinois University. Prior to working his way up at the Arkansas Travelers, Mr. Laven also worked for other minor league baseball teams including the Piedmont Boll Weevils Baseball Club in Kannapolis, NC; the Albany Polecats Baseball Club in Albany, GA; and the Kane County Cougars Baseball Club in Geneva, IL.
